Me in front of my newly cut aircraft

Ever since the age of 15, I have dreamt of building my own personal flight simulator.   That dream became a reality when I purchased a retired Continental Boeing 737-100 flight deck.  Since then, I've been busy converting the aircraft into a fixed base simulator..

Aircraft History

The airframe is a 737-130.  The aircraft was first flown April 14th, 1968 (a few months before I was born!), delivered to Lufthansa Airlines.

Details & Goals

The simulator cab is a retired Continental Airlines Boeing 737-100 flight deck. The simulation software is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2005.  Flightsim 2004 is only used for the outside visuals and flight modeling, with the host system simulation being run by our SimControl software.    Here are the features of the simulator.

  • Realistic simulation of the Boeing 737-700 systems providing up to Level D system simulation fidelity
  • Basic flight modeling provided by an over the shelf flight simulation package (Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004)
  • Level A control loading without the force output levels required by a full simulator
  • Collimated outside visuals
  • Instructor console for introducing simulated failures
